A windows (8) update received and uploaded today (sept.9, 2015) has caused my age of empires game to stop loading. the cd/dvd device revs up, but then nothing. i deleted the program, and reloaded, but same result.. Age of empires 2 (v.2.0a) works well without compatibility settings (only the registry fix needs to be applied if not working well without). so for me it can be added to the list of working games in the well known thread here on the forum.. Hi, when i search the game in microsoft compatibility center, it says that the game is compatible with windows 7. 1.firstly, i recommend you run the game in compatibility mode.. Is there a way i can make my gforce graphics card compatible with directdraw to run aoe 2 on my new windows 8.1 machine? the game wont run without that compatibility... age-of-empires-2.
